The cultivation area available for the production of tomato across India during the fiscal year 2020 was approximately 813 thousand hectares. The cultivation area increased from the previous fiscal year. India ranked second on the list of nations producing tomatoes during the measured time period.

The major Tomato producing states in the country are Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal,Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Telangana. These states account for about 90% of the total production of the country

As per 2nd Advanced Estimates, All India production of Tomato in 2019-20 is estimated to be 205.72 Lakh Tonnes, eight percent higher than the normal production as well as last year production
